Some of the best travel bargains can be found by traveling places where the crowds aren't. Have you cashed in on a great travel deal by timing your trip for off-peak or shoulder seasons? Where did you go?

Definately! Dh and I used to do that a lot before we had kids...it's harder now sometimes to coordinate 'off peak' with the kids breaks from school.

last year, we took a carnival cruise at the end of summer last week of august, and we got the suite for $800 pp!!! for a 5 day.
seems like its still expensive, but remember, most things are paid for.
we only spend about $100 on the ship.
it was great!

We went to Prague Thanksgiving week - leaving Monday night for an overnight flight & returning that Sunday. It's not freezing there yet - you need sweaters and a jacket, but the place is EMPTY. You can get fantastic photos that you can't get in peak season in the summer - beautiful architecture shots w/o a million people milling around. We got really cheap airfare via a special on British Air. I contacted the hotel directly & they had a special offer for 2 nights. With a 2 night stay, you got a fruit basket, a bottle of champagne and 2 20 minute massages. We stayed 6 nights, so we had 3 bottles of champagne, 3 fruit baskets and we each got massages every other day for free! And food is so cheap in Prague that buying our meals was nothing, and the hotel had a massive breakfast buffet every morning included in our rate. It was a super-cheap fabulous trip. Europe in November is quite a bargain.
