Spaghetti Add Ins?

I am making spaghetti again tonight (usually once a week.) What are some good add-ins or variations I could try? Normally I just boil some noodles and pour sauce over them. My kids don't like the meat in it which is great because it makes for an ultra cheap and easy meal but it can get boring!

Whenever I make it, I add veggies to it. Zucchini or broccolli is always good for my family. Shredded cheese is good for a topper. We use cheddar or mozzarella. SOmetime we add ricotta cheese and mix that in. Tastes like baked ziti but with spagetti and without all the work. I make a salad and bread to go with the meal.

sometimes to change it up I'll toss a handful of shrimp in with sausage links...really good!!!

You can also do chicken (cubed)kinda like a quick cacciatore.

Do it over large stuffed shells instead of reg noodles(stuff them w/cheese n spinach or a meat n cheese mix~whatever ya like)

Well, we wound up going to CiCi's Pizza. We had free kids buffet coupons from VBS so we spent $11 for 4 of us. You can't beat that! I do think the chicken would be a nice change or the shrimp. I have done the baked spaghetti which is good also. I am just trying to get more ideas, thanks!

You could also add in some chickpeas if your kids don't like meat in it, zuchini is also really good thrown in. You could also put in some chunks of mozzarella and melt it in the pasta. The chicken sounds good too.

I throw in a can of diced italian tomatoes and a can of mushrooms (sometimes I run the knife through the mushrooms to make them go further). Stretches the sauce, gives it more texture and adds flavor. YUM!

We also do chicken parmesan (or you could do veal parmesan). Bread the chicken breast and cook. Top noodles with chicken, sauce and then cheese. Mmmm. For a quick version, I've used chicken nuggets.

I always add zucchini or broccoli in bc it makes it more filling and it is healthy too!

I add lots of veggies in mine. I break out the food processor and finely chop up carrots, celery, zucchini and bell peppers. My kids have never complained when I add all the veggies in it. It makes it even more healthy and more filling too.

I make my sauces homemade...and it just depends on my mood what I add. Typically flavorful things like marinated artichoke hearts or olives. Also stuff like anchovies, capers, sausage etc Just depends on what I have on hand, and what we're in the mood for.
