aw, that is awful. save a lot's in my area are notorious for having bad food....

this reminds me that yesterday i went to this store called la michoacana, and a lot of their produce was bad and had gnats (at least i think they were) all over it. needless to say, i wasn't going to trust the meat....

I stopped one time at a 7Eleven or something (I can't remember WHICH one it was) for a sandwich. I was on break from Jury Duty and needed something quick. When I went in all the sandwiches were soggy, the salads were brown and they were LEAKING. I got a manager and complained that all of items were gross. Then upon further inspection, I noticed they were all 3 days past thier sell by date!! GROSS!

I've seen stuff like this at every grocery store I shop at - Walmart or Save A Lot, Aldi or Giant Eagle. I've seen slimy produce, moldy fruit and baked goods. I check everything over very diligently and double check the expiration dates on things. I used to trust that stuff in a main chain store was fine for exp dates, but after I've seen so much of it lately, I double check. I think things aren't flying off the shelves as fast as they used to, with the economy as it is, and instead of there being a quick turnover of product, things are sitting on the shelf until they're gone (or too gross to sell). Sad.

Got moldy Kraft Cheese at our Local Grocery Store Before & moldy bread At walmart! My Friend bought 3 Gallons of Bad milk At another Grocery Store too.
I Guess it Happens everywhere.

I've not seen a lot of it because I normally only shop at Kroger or Meijer but I did see a pack of buns that had been marked down that had mold on them. My MIL was with me at the time and told the manager.

I found 3 packages of moldy flat bread at the local grocer I shop at. This grocer is the best in the area, surrounding 50 miles. They have a policy that if the expiration date is past, then you get a new one. Well, it was about 1 day until the exp. date, and the manager wouldn't give me it free.

It isn't only small 'cheap' stores, it's reputable ones too.

Had bad turkey at Publix (they were awesome about the return) and had a bad chicken from Piggly Wiggly this summer.

I won't buy meat from Albertsons after I had a package of chicken go bad several days before it's "use or freeze by" date. Yuck!

I was in Publix last week and saw sour cream that was two weeks past its expiration date. And one time, I bought a loaf of wheat bread at Walmart that was completely moldy when I opened it the next day.

I saw this kind of thing when I lived in an extremely rural area with the only grocery store in town being a mom&pop hole in the wall. Lunch meat was the worst, and always out-of-date. I drove 50 miles each week to get to a good store in those days.
