Immediate help needed: garlic conversion

recipe calls for 2 1/2 tsp garlic powder. I have fresh garlic. Here's conversion chart. So I need 20 cloves of garlic????? This seems to be just too much garlic???

Substitutions: 1 clove = 1 teaspoon chopped garlic = 1/2 teaspoon minced garlic = 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder = 1/2 teaspoon garlic flakes = 1/4 teaspoon granulated garlic = 1/2 teaspoon garlic juice

That seems like a LOT. I would eyeball it and make it to tastes ( for the recipe you chose earlier). 2 1/2 tsp of garlic powder is a fair amount, so I would start with a tablespoon of the garlic minced, and see how that goes. I don't think you'll need more.

Real garlic is one of those things you can't add too much of. Just use an approximation. Especially if it's something you cook for a long time. Garlic, when cooked for a long time, is very mild.
