What are your best tips on getting the best deals? What advice would you have for someone who hasn't yet tried using the Extra Care Bucks or Register Rewards programs?

From another post about Walgreen's Register Rewards:

You buy the specified number or amount of a product as noted in the weekly flyer. Then at the register, a catalina (coupon from the machine near the register) will print out worth the amount specified in the flyer. This can be used on your next purchase, with the exception of tobacco, gift cards, etc. as written on the catalina. I believe that the major restriction on redeeming them is that you can't use the one you've earned to do the deal again. For example, you do a Pampers deal where you get $5 back in RR's and you can't use that RR to do that Pampers deal a second time. At least, that's what the latest talk was when I stopped shopping weekly at WAG.

HTH!

Combine deals that give you ECB's with coupons - you can often 'get paid' to take the item out of the store!

Once you start building up ECB's, roll them - that is, use them towards deals which will generate you MORE ECB's.

Make sure you have your ECBs or RRs before you leave the store!

Scan your CVS card to get additional coupons at your price scanner. If there is not a price scanner in the store, the register will print these for you when you check out.

Check the What's In Store section to help you make your shopping lists and for saving ideas!

One thing to remember when using register rewards is that unlike CVS' extra care bucks, you can only use one coupon/voucher at a time. I was reminded of this the other week when I tried to use 2 $5 RRs on my items. They would only take one for my order.

Regarding the RR's at Walgreens.. It depends on your store..

You can use more than one RR on one transcation.. IT IS NOT AGAINST THE CATALINA's RULES... But some walgreens cashiers/managers are very very under trained on the RR's..

RR's are considered a Manufacturer Coupon not Cash, so If you buy
5 things and have 5 coupons, and you also want to use a RR you need to add one more thing..
You want to use two rr you need to add two more things.... And right now its not hard to find something to buy (8 for 1.00) folders buy one..

No where on the RR does it say one RR per transaction to be used...

With regards to WG, you need to check before hand and see if they accept IP coupons. Some do, mine does not. YMMV!

I work for Walgreens and we do accept more than one at the same time because they are basically same as cash and pretty much work the same as a Manuf. coupon would.

As a former employee of Walgreens and a constant RR consumer.. It depends on your Walgreens. The six walgreens by me and (some others on a WALG board) accept more than one at a time.. They ring up like manufacturer coupons so it needs to stick to an item.. This is why you need to sometimse add something extra to you order..

You have 5 items and 5 coupons but want to use your RR you need to add one more thing that does not have a coupon to be able to use it! If you want to use two RR you need at least two items that do not have a maunfacture coupon..
