Thanks for the tips.  My son's shoes are really stinky and I wasn't sure how to get the foot odor out.  I'm going to start by machine washing them, and then doing the foot powder.

I've taken to putting my husbands work boots outside on the deck when he takes them off in the evening. Holy crap they reek! I had tried febreze, baking soda, and newspaper to no avail. I'll buy a bag of charcoal and see if that does the trick.

I remember having this problem with my own feet/shoes when I was about 12 years old. I remember my mom trying everything and nothing would help. We finally tossed the shoes and I never had another problem. It was just those particular shoes.

Dh has a pair that reek too and I make him keep them out in the garage.  Will have to try one of these tricks too.

I just washed the pair of stinky shoes ds has, and they already smell (and look) better.  I used Tide with Febreze and a Tide Stain Release in-wash booster that I had.  I am going to dry them in the sun for the next couple of days.

I have the sport's spray from Norwex that works wonders on those stinky shoes.

M'ija's shoes stunk when she was younger. I would spray the insides with vinegar.
