Didn't Cindy force Casey to HAVE the baby???? And look how that situation has turned out.

Sometimes parents don't know what is right either. And if I remember correctly Casey didn't want an abortion either, she wanted to give the baby up for adoption.

Casey was forced into a lifestyle that she didn't want nor was ready for.

Back to the thread....It is sad that we are even talking about someone else's child, and judging what that family should or shouldn't be doing. None of our business really. "WE" need to focus on our own families.

The thing is, we are not talking about other families. This situation could affect any one of us. As a mother I would want to know. Abortion is not without risk. I would want to be there for my child if that is what they chose.

So let's make a law, that EVERYONE has to follow...because of what YOU want for you and your child. Sorry, still don't buy it.

That's my problem, there are too many laws as it is....that may help one person but take away the rights of someone else. EXACTLY why I think the government is in our lives WAY too much.

See this is something else that screams individuality to me....it seems that people only want individuality when it is convenient for them....otherwise, everyone has to do the same thing.

Would you want to know if your child had any other type of surgery? Putting aside the fact that this is an abortion.

I don't debate abortion and I will stay out of it.

I have to agree w/ Bucsnpats on this. Obviously, there are all sorts of things we would want to know about our kids, but at what point is it made into a law affecting everyone? If your kid is skipping school - you obviously want to know about it. Hopefully your school might contact you if that were the case, but they might not, unless it was ongoing. Should it be made illegal for a kid to skip school? Have the police called if they do it? No. It's going overboard. Kids get their hands on cigarettes and alcohol even when it's illegal to do it. They find a way. If a kid doesn't feel they can come to a parent about a pregnancy, then the parent didn't do that great a job fostering a safe and loving environment and open lines of communication, IMO. Even if the parent DID do a good job, the kid might still want to keep something like this to themselves. Maybe they are disappointed in themselves, embarassed, or just feel like they would be a huge disappointment to their parents. So they want to correct their mistake with no one knowing. It is their choice. Yes, they have to live with the decision, just like we all live with decisions we make our whole lives. And there are many, many women who do NOT regret their decision to abort.

My answer is YES, dang straight you tell your parents. If you are woman enough to get pregnant, you are woman enough to face your parents and tell them you are pregnant. You are also woman enough to take care of your child. You don't get to commit murder out of the sake of convenience.

I could not have said it better myself

I have no opinion on this either since it is has too many catch 22's attached to it.

Just curious, do you believe that any age is okay not to tell the parents? Some kids get pregnant at a very young age, say 12. Is it okay for them to get an abortion without consent or do you feel there is a certain age they must be before they can make that determination for themselves?

Isn't abortion already free, or on a sliding scale, when applicable, through Planned Parenthood to those who can't afford otherwise? Isn't that part of their controversy? So many people aren't aware that Planned Parenthood is really there to PREVENT pregnancy in the first place for those who can't go the typical route.
