Halloween Treats: Monster Eye Cookies

September 30, 2013 by Kimberly Danger Leave a Comment

monster eye cookies for halloween

These Monster Eye Cookies are an easy treat to make and perfect to bring to a Halloween Party.  I used a basic snickerdoodle recipe for the dough and added a few drops of green food coloring.  These are the LARGE Wilton Candy Eyes (see my other Wilton Candy Eye Treats).  I found them at Walmart, but they’re also available at cake decorating aisles at Michaels, Hobby Lobby, etc.

Monster Eye Cookies

1 C. butter
2 eggs
1 1/2 C. sugar
2 3/4 C. flour
2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. salt
Drops green food color
Large Wilton Candy Eye

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  In a mixer, cream the butter, eggs and sugar together.  Mix dry ingredients separately and add to wet ingredients gradually.  Add a few drops food coloring.  With your hands, roll the dough into small 3/4″ balls. Roll each ball in sugar and bake 10-12 minutes. Immediately out of the oven, press in a Large Wilton Candy Eye.  There you have it:  Cookies that look like SPOOKY monster eyes.
