What Funny Things Do Your Kids Do/Say:
My 2 year old insists on keeping one of his Teletubby dolls on the
coffee table in the living room. No matter how many times we put
it away, it will always re-appear in the exact spot on the coffee table.
My 7 year old has gotten into the habit of saying "Oh, MOM!"
any time I say something he doesn't want to hear.
The Most Rewarding Thing About Parenting:
Watching my kids play together and enjoy themselves and just seeing the
world through their eyes.
The Most Challenging Thing About Parenting:
My 7 year old is a special needs child and some days are just tougher
than others, especially when one of us is sick, we're all tired or it's
just been a bad day.
Favorites:
My kids love the Wiggles. We have all of the videos, most of the
toys, and t-shirts.
Money Saving Tips:
Coupons for items that you regularly use, and trading the ones you don't
use with other people. There are several online swapping forums
for this and everyone can get what they need. I scout all the
sales ads and see who has the best sale and combine that with my
coupons. I also buy clothes from resale shops and resell clothes
there as well.
Best Bargain Ever:
I once took my some of my kids clothes to a consignment shop that issued
either store credit or gave cash on the spot. The store credit was
always a few dollars more so I opted for that. I got $10 in store
credit and applied it to a Huffy children's bike they had selling for
$20. I got the bike for $10 plus tax and only had to inflate the
tires and buy training wheels and a helmet for my son.
In the Kitchen:
Buy in bulk and cook more than you need and eat on the leftovers for
other nights' dinners or pack them for lunches. My husband gets
leftovers in his lunch every week and I just add a slice of bread and
fruit, yogurt or salad. Also buy extra bread and freeze the loaf
not being used. Wrap unopened loaf in a plastic grocery bag to
avoid freezer burn and thaw in the fridge before using. You never
run out of bread that way.
Organization:
Keep all coupons organized by category and look through them regularly.
When making a shopping list, take out the ones you plan to use on that
trip and put in an envelope with the list. I also keep a pocket
calendar in my my purse and write everything in it. That way I
don't have to remember everything I need to do, I only have to remember
to look at the calendar.
