I ordered these on the 7th and just got an email today saying “these items are not available for purchase” That’s all it said. It didn’t say anything about them running out of stock or not being able to fulfill the orders. Makes it sound like they messed up. That’s bad customer service if you ask me.

I didn’t get the email saying that they couldn’t fill the order. When I checked the status it wasn’t giving me details so I emailed customer support. They responded with this email,

“Hi Lang, thank you for contacting Staples.

I am so sorry, however, the Sharpies are out of stock. You will be credited for the $5.00 coupon as
compensation. We are sorry for the recent over-acceptance of orders for Sharpie marker 12 packs
during our sale last week. Demand far exceeded expectations; we did secure more inventory from a
backup supplier, but regrettably still had accepted more orders than we were able to fulfill.

We notified you as quickly as we could by e-mail when we became aware of the error, and we are
working to make certain this does not happen in the future. We value every order we receive and we
apologize for the inconvenience we know this has caused.

Yup, got that email today, too. I think it’s total crap that they won’t backorder the items to honor their sale and promotion.
I’ll think twice before shopping Staples again, credit or not.
