The Target Halloween Clearance is on!  I was there bright and early this morning while there was plenty of merchandise still left.  We expect the Halloween clearance to follow the typical Target Markdown Schedule.

Target holiday markdowns usually follow a 3-3-2 schedule.  Clearance merchandise goes to 50% off the day after the holiday, then 3 days later 70%.  One exception: Bagged candy starts at 30% then goes to 50% and 70%.  Again, 3 days after that what’s left is 90% off.  2 days after that it goes to salvage (Goodwill).   More on that here:  Target Clearance Today, Goodwill Tomorrow.

While all Target stores’ markdowns are mainly based on manager discretion and inventory somewhat, Christmas markdowns are even more up to the individual store. Based on prior experience, this is what a typical holiday markdown schedule looks like:

Target Halloween Clearance 2012:

• Nov. 1st = 50% off (bagged candy 30% off)
• Nov. 4th = 70% off (bagged candy 50% off)*
• Nov. 7th = 90% off (bagged candy 70% off)
