Work
at Home Ideas: Calligrapher
Getting
started: Natural artistic ability is helpful, although calligraphy is
a skill that must be learned. Startups costs are quite minimal. You
will probably spend about $25-50 for basic supplies. Another $50-200 for
classes and books. Take classes through community ed, or at your local
community college. The calligrapher normally learns one alphabet at a time, and adds to his or her repertoire as each new one is mastered. Some of the more ornate alphabets
require more practice, but most of them are variations or additions to previously learned techniques.
Practice your new skills until you feel confident enough to market your talents!
What can you do? Use
your talents to create:
Wedding & Party Invitations
Graduation Announcements
Birth Announcements
Menus
Christening/baptism
invitations
Holiday Cards
Personalized Stationery & Note Cards
Certificates of accomplishment suitable for framing
Marketing Ideas:
-
Design and letter your own business cards.
Personally call on shops that sell products that lend themselves to your talents. Give them your card, leave samples and an idea of your prices, so they know how to quote your service retail.
-
Place your ad in local
magazines and newspapers.
-
Design birthday cards for family and friends,
making sure you leave your contact details on the back of the card.
-
You probably know of a
friend who has a graduation, wedding or baptism coming up. Offer to
provide that friend with free invitations or announcements if they can provide
you with two new clients.
