Work at Home Ideas: Party Planner

Do you love a good party?  More importantly, do you like planning them?  Many people don't have the time or the creativity to plan a party or event... but you could get paid to do it for them, and work from home, too!  A party planner can be hired to take care of the invitations, planning the menu, the games, the decorations, and more.  Have your clients select a theme, and you're off to work while they relax!

Startup Costs:   Your start-up costs can be very little.  You'll want to have some fliers and business cards printed up to distribute.  You may want to buy your own "props," but in some cases you can have the client purchase them for you.  You will collect an inventory of props as you go along to use in future parties.

Training Needed:   No formal training needed, just a creative flair and lots of ideas!

Marketing:  Word of mouth is a great way to get started.  Let friends and family know of your new business venture, and offer to plan their birthdays, graduations, showers, etc.  Your work will be your best advertising.  Leave a few business cards for guests who admire your work.  Have fliers printed and deliver them to everyone in your neighborhood.  Your own kids' parties will be great advertising for you, too! Keep a portfolio of ideas stocked with pictures, invitations, and mementos from past parties.

Ideas:  Kids' birthday parties are a great way to start, especially if you have children of your own.  Once you're established, you may wish to branch out to baby showers, anniversary celebrations, graduations, family reunions, class reunions, and any other event you can think of!
