Family Gift Idea: Build-a-Snowman Kit

Here’s a fun winter gift idea for a neighbor or family friend: a Build-your-own Snowman Kit – Just add snow! This little snowman accessory set was quick and simple to make. Best of all, since I had everything but the buttons on hand, it only cost me a dollar!

I made this Christmas gift for a little friend of my daughter. It is a great homemade gift idea for when you want to give a gift the whole family can enjoy; for neighbors, family friends, cousins, or anyone who likes to play in the snow.

The scarf and hat are made from felt. The scarf is just a long rectangle with fringe cut on the end – no sewing involved. I did sew the hat, but I wish I’d thought ahead and picked up a hat from the dollar store’s Halloween section to use! I bought the buttons for $1 at Jo-Ann. The stones for the snowman’s eyes and mouth are actually glass floral stones which I painted with acrylic paint. I was afraid the paint wouldn’t stick to the glass, but it did.

I decorated a small box by gluing a circle of winter-themed scrapbooking paper to the lid. With the small items in the box and the scarf rolled up, everything tucks neatly into the snowman’s hat. Perfect for giving as a gift!

Would be awesome if I didn’t live in SoCal. Not too much snow to add around here. VERY cute idea though!
