Freezer Food Wednesday

I am taking the January Eating Out Challenge along with other members of MommySavers Discussion Forum.  To help resist the temptation of just picking something up when I am too tired to cook, I’ve spent the day cooking foods that freeze beautifully.  Plus, if you need to pick up more storage containers for your freezer foods, there is a $1.50 off Ziplock Containers coupon out right now.

I’ve made these recipes for the freezer:
- My Momma’s Chili
- Easy Chicken and Dumplings
- Southern Pulled Pork

We have four dinners, at least two lunches, and a little lunch for my little man (he LOVES chicken and dumplings) all set to go in our freezer.

I have two crock pots so I was able to do everything at once. If you don’t have the time or two crock pots, cook an extra meal on days you have time. Just prep and toss it in the freezer to use on those nights you don’t have the time or the inclination to cook.

For more crock pot recipes and freezer-friendly meals check out our Kitchen Chatter Forum.

Do you have any recipes that freeze beautifully that you care to share?

You can also put alot of meals in gallon ziplock freezer bags. They store smaller in your freezer! Just bought Girlfriends on the go cookbook and it is all meals that can go in the freezer. So far they are delicious! I put 10 meals in the freezer with 2 hours in the kitchen!

One thing I learned over the years when freezing stuff is to use Bleu Painters tape on my containers becuase it come right off without any residue.

Also if you have an upright deep freezer like I do, freeze you ziplocks flat on a cookie sheet, then stand upright in a plastic shoebox, with the label at the top. I “file” my bags, it takes up less space and makes finding what I need easy. This works great for stocks and sauces.
