Frugalicious! Cinnamon & Sugar Pretzel Bites

pretzel bitesThese pretzel bites are incredibly yummy, but best of all they’re frugal and EASY to make.  They taste a little bit like donut balls or monkey bread, but the boiling makes them chewy like a pretzel.  Here’s how to make them home:

You’ll Need:

  • One loaf Rhodes Frozen Bread Dough (one loaf costs about a dollar)
  • Butter
  • Cinnamon and Sugar

Start by tearing off or cutting pieces of the bread dough and rolling into 1′ balls (I just cut mine with a knife).  Place on a greased cookie sheet and let the dough rise until doubled in size.  Preheat oven to 375 degrees.  Next, bring a pot of water to a rolling boil and toss in about a dozen dough balls until they rise and puff up (about 45 seconds).  Remove and drain on a layer of paper toweling.  Don’t worry if they look funny, they’ll puff up in the oven.

Place pretzel bites on a greased cookie sheet and bake for about 15 minutes, until golden brown.  Allow to cool slightly, then brush with butter.  Roll in cinnamon and sugar and enjoy!

I was going to try and make these today. But, I went to Winn- Dixie and Wal-Mart and could not find the dough. I looked in the frozen bread section. Which stores carry this dough? Could I be looking in the wrong spot? Thank you for sharing!!! They look delicious! :o )

Hi Amy – I’m wondering if Rhodes is a regional thing. If so, you could definitely substitute with any type of bread dough.
