Grandma’s Yummy Chocolate Brownies

chocolate browniesMaking brownies from scratch is much easier than you think.   This chocolatey delight comes to you from my own mom.  A neighbor brought her these when they moved into their very first home before I was even born, and she’s been making them ever since.  Now they’re known as “Grandma’s Yummy Brownies.”  After trying this recipe, you may never buy a boxed brownie mix again!

Brownies
1/2 C. butter
2 eggs
1 C. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
5 Tbsp. cocoa powder
2/3 C. flour

Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Mix above ingredients until well-combined. Grease a 9×9 glass pan. Spread brownie batter in the pan (it will be very thick) and bake for 25-30 minutes.

Frosting
2 2/3 C. powdered sugar
1/3 C. cocoa powder
1/3 C. butter
4 Tbsp. milk
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Allow brownies to cool completely before frosting them.

Do you use a mixer for the frosting?
Is the butter melted for the brownies or the frosting?

I just made these and they are sooo good, easy, and way better than a mix!
