Name: Martha Lemert
Age: 29
Home: Alvaton, Kentucky

Family's Names and Ages:
Stacy - Husband - 39
Caitlyn - Adopted daughter - 12
Jacob - Adopted son - 9
Skylan - Adopted daughter - 6
Abby - birth daughter - 1

Occupation:

Worked for a Honda/Toyota parts supplier factory.  I also dabble a little as an Independent Beauty Consultant with Mary Kay Cosmetics.  I enjoy getting my products at a discount while helping others to feel better about themselves.

If I had a day to myself...:

With an entire day to myself and the money to spare, I'd pamper myself with a massage, a manicure and a pedicure.  With four children time alone is SO rare!!  Or with time alone and no money to spare...which is usually the case...I'd use the time to clean my house thoroughly so that I could enjoy spending more time with the hubby and kids instead of doing laundry or constantly cleaning the kitchen.

Money Saving Tips:

We do our best to buy in bulk when we find something on sale.  For instance, I recently found ground chuck on sale for $1 per pound and bought 10-15 lbs. to put in the freezer.  So many of our meals include ground beef and at $1 per pound for ground CHUCK, it was a real deal!

Bargain Hunting Strategies:

I watch my Mommysavers newsletter, of course!  I love to browse Amazon.com to see what they have on sale/clearance.  Big Lots is another great place to find bargains, but you have to be careful.  Some things aren't necessarily less expensive there and then some items are nearly half price!  Another great place is the Dollar Tree or Deal$.  I've found $2-$3 name brand items at either place for only $1.

Products we can't live without:

I could not live with the plastic totes to store everything in.  We live in small quarters for the time being (hoping to add an addition in the Spring!!) so we have to take advantage of every little bit of storage space.  In order to do so, I purchase different sized totes to store out of season clothing and hand-me-downs that the next child is waiting to grow into, gift wrap supplies, toys, etc.  We store under cabinets, under beds, in closets, in the shed, etc.  Everything is labeled so you know just what is inside and it's all neat and organized.

In the Kitchen:

Kitchen items have been one thing I've splurged on.  When cooking for six, it's great to have items that help to save time.  However, the items that I treasure the most are items that I earned for free or half price as a hostess of a Pampered Chef kitchen show.  One is the Ultimate Slice and Grate...I can slice tomatoes, onions, potatoes, etc. in less than half the time...and the Food Chopper.  I can chop onions and other foods in just seconds.  It saves a lot of prep time in the kitchen so I can do other things while the meal is cooking.

Organization:

I love to keep my favorite pieces of the kids' school work, birthday cards, etc. so they can look at them when they are older, but there is very little space (and I keep scrapbook space open for plenty of photos and journaling).  So I have purchased small clear plastic 12 qt. totes ($1-$2 at Dollar General) and have stacked them in the bottom of my closet, one for each family member with their name on it.  When the tote is full, it goes to a shelf in the shed and a new tote is labeled and placed in it's spot in the closet.  After the primary grades, there isn't much to keep for them besides birthday cards and a few other mementos, so I've found that it probably won't take more than two small totes to save a lifetime of memories for them!
