If I had a day to myself...
Go to a movie, have my hair and nails done, and go clothes shopping.
Realistically, clean the house.
Money Saving Tips:
Always clip coupons. I save an average of $30 a month using them.
Don't just buy the item because you have a coupon for it; sometimes it's
not less (coupon included) than the brand you normally buy. Have 2
coupon envelopes: 1 as the "master file" and the other for
your shopping trip. Make a shopping list and only take the
envelope for your shopping trip filled with the coupons you need.
We have our hair cut @ Rios where cuts start @ $4.95. So far, we
haven't paid more than $20 for 3 haircuts. Also, utilize the 0%
interest rate credit card offers so you can transfer credit card
balances and pay them off interest free. Just watch out for the
offers that charge enormous transfer rates because those aren't worth
it. Use the mail order pharmacy your health insurance provides for
medicines you or family use on a regular basis. I save $15 for a 3
month supply on my son's asthma meds.
Bargain Hunting Strategies:
Go grocery shopping in the early mornings. That's when you'll most
likely find meat for a reduced price. I love to shop for clothes
at Target & Old Navy (@ a reduced price). I once purchased a
$6 jacket that was originally priced $49 for my son at Old Navy.
Products we can't live without:
Our computer. My 5 yr old loves to play computer games on Nick Jr.
& PBS kids' websites. I can keep up w/ both local & world
news any time I want. Also, my husband is sometimes able to work
from home.
In the Kitchen:
Crock pot recipes are the best. Meat never comes out too dry.
I love to throw about 8 pork chops smothered with a bottle of BBQ sauce
in the crock pot cooked on low for 7-8 hours. Always freeze what
you don't eat.
Organization:
Make sure to keep your mail in one place. This will lessen the
chances of accidentally tossing out the utility bill.
